Redundancy ensures that your data is safe in the event of transient hardware failures. A backup tool such as Oracle RMAN is required to initiate a backup or restore operation and copy the backup to/from the Azure Storage service.Īzure Storage services offer the following benefits:ĭurable and highly available. Azure Storage offers a number of services that can be used to mount external storage to the Azure Linux VM, suitable as backup media for Oracle databases. The Azure Storage services are Microsoft's cloud storage solution for modern data storage scenarios. In this case, the backups must be stored in different Azure regions using geo-redundant replication, so as to be available outside of the primary database region. They are also a means to protect against regional outage where a disaster recovery technology like DataGuard is not in use. In Azure, as all storage is highly redundant and the loss of one or more disks will not lead to a database outage, backups are most often used to protect against human error, for cloning operations or data preservation for regulatory purposes. They can also be a means of recovery from human error and a way to clone a database for development or testing purposes.

To many, using the Export/Import is the right way because that is how the learned to back up the registry in the Pre-XP days. There is no incremental restore.Īlso, "Backup the registry" does mean different things to different people. I just don't like it because it literally restores your computer to a specific point in time. For the average user, using MS-System Restore is probably the best method. Let me repeat this: BACKUP YOUR REGISTRY before you do anything. If you try RegClean.exe make sure you backup your registry before you run the program. Actually, Microsoft doesn't support RegClean.exe anymore and you have to do a Google search to find it. I've seen running MS RegClean.exe fix the issue before, but can't guarantee anything. Most Oracle products require their own HOME. The two I've seen the most is installing Developer 6i into an existing Oracle home. This can be caused by many different things.
